To avoid stress from entering your life, you need to stop doing things that enable it in the first place. In your twenties, it is crucial to commit to a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle. This involves daily meditation and assessment of your thoughts, emotions, and relationships to practice accountability for your actions. Make it a habit to reflect on the way you handled a situation and assess whether it’s good behavior or a bad one.
One of the main causes of a person’s unhappiness is the inability to recover from a mistake. We all have our share of embarrassing, devastating, and life-changing mistakes in our lives. We have made so many choices, but not all of them are good ones. Over time, we’re going to ponder on our decisions and wish we hadn’t done some of those. Sometimes, we feel mortified for the things we’ve done that we translate our shame into negativity. Once your insecurities get the better of you, you’re going to be afraid to make shortcomings, and sooner, afraid to take risks. These regrets of the past are limiting our beliefs to turning over a new leaf in the present. The deeper we dwell on our mistakes, the less motivated we are to embrace our flaws. Many people are holding themselves back from creating a future they want because they attach their worth to their mistakes.
Stress comes in many forms when we’re under an extreme amount of pressure. At any age, we are no strangers to stress. But as we grow, the more susceptible we are to the littlest scenarios that cause us stress since the expectations we have put on our shoulders are getting heavier and ridiculous. In our twenties, this ridiculous internal pressure to become successful in the quickest way possible is intense. We constantly feel the need to work since taking a break is considered an act of weakness.
A toxic relationship can be in any shape or form, and it can look differently for each one of us. Some may label a toxic relationship only when physical violence is involved while some may argue otherwise. Others would think a relationship becomes toxic only when cheating is involved. Regardless of how one would define and measure the degree of toxicity in a relationship, if you’re in it, you still lose one way or another. It’s hard to admit that an outsider’s opinion is true because it makes you feel stupid and naïve for not realizing you’re a victim in your relationship.
It’s essential to learn how to become independent before you turn 20, so you wouldn’t be stuck in a rut when the time comes. You are officially not a teenager which means you have non-teenager priorities now, including some extremely important responsibilities. You need to do things on your own. In your twenties, you have to explore life and discover the realities that have been kept from you by your parents. It sucks to learn from scratch, but it’s part of the learning process.
